NMMT’s Big Decision! Uran Bus Service Stops For Indefinite Time, 7000 Passengers’ Lives To Be Affected
The management has decided to discontinue the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s NMMT numbers 31 and 30 bus service connecting Uran effective from Friday, February 23. As a result, thousands of passengers on this bus would be affected. There are two buses to Uran: 31 from Koparkhairane and 30 from Kalamboli. 7000 passengers used to travel by buses on this route every day. Due to this decision of Navi Mumbai Transport Management, thousands of passengers are going to suffer. There is no information yet as to when the transport will resume bus services.
This route saw a total of 120 voyages by 42 buses, and these buses have become a significant mode of transportation for Uran residents, students, and workers. However, the NNMT management has chosen to discontinue this service.
Following the horrible accident at Khopte, the NMMT bus number 34 service between Juinagar railway station in Navi Mumbai and Koproli hamlet in Uran has been discontinued permanently. Following the tragedy, NMMT workers refused to operate on the route, resulting in 52 ferries and over 5,000 people travelling along it during the day.
At the same time, workers urged that traffic on the remaining route of Uran be stopped. NMMT Service Manager stated that the management made the decision to discontinue NMMT service on the Uran route, citing worker safety concerns.
