In a shocking turn of events, a fraudster’s attempt to con by asking for a bribe to release his accused son from custody was foiled by the man’s intelligence.

The man received a fake call from the fraudster, who impersonated as Mumbai Police, claiming that his son named Aayush had gang-raped a girl along with some of his friends, which led to his arrest. He then asked for money to free Aayush. However, the man handled the situation cleverly and his reply was hilarious.

The man also recorded the whole incident on camera. The five-minute-long video revealed that the scammer was calling from Pakistan through a mobile number bearing an +92 ISD code.

His Pakistani accent was suspicious even as he asked for money to ensure the Indian family did not get mired in legal troubles. The caller was not able to specify the name of the police station where the boy was in custody. Additionally, the profile photo featured on the call was of senior IPS officer Sylendra Babu from Tamil Nadu.

Mumbai Police also responded to this and urged people not to entertain such calls and appreciated people’s awareness.

The police team further wrote, “Request you to report the matter at your nearest police station for necessary action.”

What was the man’s reply?

Upon receiving the call, the fake policeman was heard saying: “See, sir, you don’t know what your son has done. Your child and his three boy mates have raped a girl and the victim is now in hospital. The matter is serious and your son is under arrest.”

In order to make it appear more real, the caller even tried to dramatize the incident by making the man hear the voice of a crying boy, claiming that his son was pleading for help and looking out to be released.

The man had identified it to be a fake call, but he continued to stay on the call to roast the fraudster.

Later, the caller demanded a ransom of Rs 40,000 and mentioned that it was a total bribe amount for four police officers. This is when the father broke the silence and made an epic reply.

“Bus, 40,000? Kam se kam chaar lakh lo (Just 40,000? Take at least four lakh),” the man said in his reply to the fake police’s WhatsApp call, which soon was cut after these lines.
