Rapido Driver Threatens Mumbai Customer, Sparks Outrage Over Safety and Service Standards
A troubling incident involving a Rapido driver has come to light, where the driver threatened a customer, saying, “Cancel the ride or I’ll hit you,” and insulted her, calling her a “child of a beggar.”
Ohshin Bhat, a tech professional from Mumbai, shared her experience on the social media platform X. She posted a screenshot of the driver’s offensive messages, explaining that she had booked an Economy cab through Rapido but was sent a Premium vehicle instead. Economy rides are typically cheaper, using hatchbacks, while Premium rides use sedans.
The driver, who had listed his Premium cab under the Economy category to attract passengers, demanded extra money from her. When she refused, he became abusive and tried to pressure her into canceling the ride. The driver even taunted her, saying, “Want to save money? Then walk!”

Ohshin’s post drew significant attention online, prompting Rapido to respond. In their statement, Rapido apologized for the driver’s unprofessional behavior and requested ride details to take action against him.
Many users expressed shock at the incident and criticized Rapido for employing poorly behaved drivers. Some shared their own bad experiences with the service. One user recounted how a bike taxi driver provided a flimsy helmet that fell off during the ride and was later run over. The driver then followed the user to demand compensation for the helmet, eventually taking the user’s own helmet and leaving.
The incident has raised serious concerns about safety and customer service standards at Rapido.
