The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued fresh instructions to all banks and white-label ATM operators, asking them to ensure that ₹100 and ₹200 denomination notes are more widely available through ATMs. The move aims to improve public access to these frequently used smaller denominations.

According to a circular issued by the central bank, a minimum of 75% of ATMs must be equipped to dispense either ₹100 or ₹200 notes from at least one cassette by September 30, 2025. This coverage is expected to further increase, with 90% of ATMs required to meet the same condition by March 31, 2026.

By setting these deadlines, the RBI intends to make these smaller denominations more accessible across the country, benefiting the general public in their daily cash transactions.
