Entry Restrictions Imposed on Lonavala Tourist Spots After 6 PM Following Recent Accidents

In response to recent tragic incidents, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase to enforce strict entry restrictions at popular tourist spots in the Lonavala area after 6 PM. This decision aims to enhance safety measures following fatalities. Recently a tragic incident at Bhushi Dam that claimed lives of five family members.

The directive prohibits entry to Bhushi, Pavana, Karla, Lohgad, Sinhagad, and Tamhini tourist spots in Lonavala after 6 PM. District authorities have been instructed to rigorously enforce these measures, warning of repercussions for non-compliance. The move comes amidst heightened scrutiny following the drowning incidents, including one at Tamhini Ghat, prompting state-level concern and monitoring by the Chief Minister’s office.

“We must ensure that citizens can enjoy the rains and nature safely within regulated hours,” stated Chief Minister Shinde. He emphasized the need for stringent actions against any breaches, underscoring the administration’s commitment to public safety.

District Collector Diwase reiterated the seriousness of the situation. He issued warning of consequences for officials failing to uphold the restrictions. Special orders tailored to the Lonavala area will reinforce these measures, aligning with the Chief Minister’s directives to adapt protocols based on local conditions.

As authorities implement these restrictions, they aim to prevent further tragedies and maintain order in tourism activities. The emphasis remains on responsible enjoyment of natural attractions while safeguarding public welfare and adherence to regulations.
