Salman Khan deletes Tweet after goof-up, corrected by netizens on Kiran Rao’s directorial debut
Salman Khan found himself in the midst of social media backlash after mistakenly referring to Kiran Rao’s latest film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ as her directorial debut. The actor had initially shared his praise for the film on X, applauding Kiran for her supposed debut as a director.
Just saw Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies. Wah wah Kiran. I really enjoyed it n so did my father. superb job. Kab kaam karogi mere saath ?

However, netizens quickly pointed out that Kiran had actually made her directorial debut with ‘Dhobi Ghat’ a decade ago, making “Laapataa Ladies” her second directorial venture. Amidst the trolling, Salman deleted his original tweet and reposted a corrected version.
Despite the faux pas, Salman Khan was seen attending a special screening of “Laapataa Ladies” along with Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and other industry stalwarts. A video shared by Spice’s official Instagram handle captured the warm camaraderie between Salman and Aamir, reminiscent of their iconic roles in “Andaz Apna Apna.” The film’s premiere witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including actor Ravi Kishan and directors Raj Kumar Santoshi and Ayan Mukerji.
“Laapataa Ladies,” based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, has been receiving accolades since its screening at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year. The screenplay and dialogue for the film are penned by Sneha Desai, with additional dialogues by Divyanidhi Sharma. Despite the initial hiccup, the film continues to garner praise from both critics and audiences alike for its compelling narrative and stellar performances.
