Seawoods-Darave station renamed to Seawoods-Darave-Karave
Seawoods-Darave station renamed to Seawoods-Darave-Karave
Central Railway has officially changed the name of Navi Mumbai’s Seawoods-Darave station to Seawoods-Darave-Karave, fulfilling a long-pending local demand. The update recognises Karave village, which was earlier not included in the station’s name.
The renaming follows a Maharashtra government request sent on November 6, 2025, and approval from the Surveyor-General of India. A notification confirming the change was issued on November 29 by the Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Marketing).
Officials said that Seawoods Estate in Nerul was developed using land from both Darave and Karave villages, but the original station name reflected only Seawoods and Darave. The new name corrects this and ensures consistency across government records and transport systems.
The updated name has been approved in all three official scripts:
Marathi: सीवूड्स-दारावे-करावे
Hindi: सीवूड्स-दारावे-करावे
English: Seawoods-Darave-Karave
Although the numerical station code (01827117) stays the same, the alphabetical code has been changed from SWDV to SWDK. All divisions under Central Railway—Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Solapur and Pune—have been instructed to update signage, ticketing systems, reservation databases and online platforms.
Passengers will gradually begin seeing the new name on NTES, online booking portals and reservation charts. Physical signboards at the station will be replaced once approvals and fabrication work are completed.
A Central Railway spokesperson confirmed, “With the renaming, the station code has also been changed from SWDV to SWDK.”
