Security Tightened After Threat Call on PM Modi’s Aircraft, Mumbai Man Arrested
Authorities have heightened security after Mumbai Police arrested a man from Chembur for allegedly making a threat call about a terrorist attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft. The call was received at the Mumbai Police control room on February 11, ahead of PM Modi’s foreign visit.
PM Modi’s France Visit and Upcoming US Tour
Despite the incident, PM Modi’s visit to France continued as planned. He co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and was warmly welcomed by the Indian diaspora in Marseille. He is also set to visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a major nuclear fusion research project.
Additionally, PM Modi will pay tribute to Indian soldiers at the Mazargues War Cemetery before heading to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This will be their first meeting since Trump’s re-election.
Threat Call Sparks Investigation
The caller claimed terrorists were planning an attack on PM Modi’s aircraft during his departure. Mumbai Police acted swiftly, alerting intelligence agencies and launching an investigation. Authorities tracked down and arrested the suspect in Chembur. However, officials later stated that the man was mentally unstable. Despite this, security agencies continued assessing any potential risks.
Security on High Alert
Following the threat, authorities have tightened security measures during PM Modi’s overseas engagements. Investigations are still ongoing, with intelligence agencies closely monitoring all developments.
