On 14th March, the Maharashtra state government took important decisions regarding the services of contractual employees under the National Health Mission.

As per further information from the state government decision accessed by Pune Pulse, Meetings were held on 18/8/2023 and 31/10/2023 under the chairmanship of Minister, Department of Public Health with various organizations regarding service inclusion of contractual employees working under National Health Mission. In that, 70 percent of the quota to be filled by direct service in the health department every year, and the remaining 30 percent to the post of National Health Mission, to accommodate contract (technical/non-technical) employees who have served for at least 10 years and above, and to relax the age requirement for regular posts in the health department. Decision to make necessary changes had been taken. Accordingly, the Commissioner of Health Services vide letter dated 7/11/2023 submitted a proposal regarding adjustment of staff in National Health Mission. In accordance with the said proposal, regarding the adjustment of the contractual employees working under the National Health Mission, the issue of filling up 70 percent of the posts through direct service and 30 percent of the posts through adjustment from the contractual employees of the National Health Mission, by amending the service entry rules of the sanctioned posts in the Public Health Department, equivalent to the cadre working under the National Health Mission, was under the consideration of the government.

State Government Decision:

The following decision has been taken in the meeting of the State Council of Ministers held on 13/03/2024 regarding the adjustment of service of the contractual employees working under the National Health Mission:

·         In order to adjust the service of the contractual employees working under the National Health Mission, it is being approved to amend the service entry rules for recruiting 70 percent through direct service and 30 percent through inclusion every year by revising the service entry rules for approved equivalent posts in the Public Health Department.

·         It is approved to relax the age condition as per the length of service of the employees to accommodate the contractual employees who have served for 10 years and more under the National Health Mission.

·         Among the contract employees working in the state under the National Health Mission, after including the services of 10 years and above, their pay is approved to be fixed at the next step in the regular pay scale equal to the honorarium received by them in the preceding month.

·         It is approved to make adjustments by strictly following the instructions/guidelines issued by the Central Government from time to time regarding the educational qualification of the contractual employees under the National Health Mission.

·         Adjustment of service of contractual employees working under National Health Mission is approved from the date of decision taken by the Cabinet.

·         In accordance with the decision taken by the Cabinet, approval is being given to take decisions at the department level regarding the technical difficulties encountered during implementation.
