A shocking incident at a school in Goregaon West has raised fresh worries about safety around school campuses and the growing aggression of stray dogs.

On Thursday morning, a security guard at a school in Siddharth Nagar was attacked by a stray dog inside the school premises. CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral, causing concern among parents and local residents.

The attack happened around 9:40 am when the guard was seen walking near the school gate. Two stray dogs were present nearby—one sitting at the entrance and another approaching him. As the guard turned toward the gate, the approaching dog suddenly jumped and bit him on his left shoulder.

The guard struggled to free himself as the dog held on for a few seconds before letting go. He pushed the animal away, but moments later, the same dog tried to charge at him again. Another staff member rushed in with a wooden stick and managed to stop the second attack by hitting the dog on the head.

The injured guard was taken for immediate medical treatment. Parents have expressed serious concern as the incident occurred during school hours when children were present.

Local residents say stray dog aggression has been increasing in the area, with recent incidents of dogs chasing children, pedestrians, and delivery workers. Parents are urging schools to improve safety measures, especially during peak hours.

Animal welfare organisations commented that dogs usually attack when they feel threatened or territorial. They emphasised the need for regular sterilisation drives, vaccinations, and responsible feeding to reduce such conflicts.

Civic authorities have not yet issued an official statement, but citizens hope action will be taken soon to control stray dog movement around schools.

The guard is now recovering, while residents await steps from authorities and the school to prevent similar incidents in the future.
