Sunrisers Hyderabad Takes Mid-Season Break in Maldives to Recharge Ahead of Crucial IPL Matches
Mumbai, April 28, 2025: In an unconventional move during the ongoing IPL 2025 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has sent its players on a mid-season vacation to the Maldives. This comes after a tough season so far, with SRH sitting in 8th place on the points table, having won only 3 of their 9 matches. Their playoff hopes now appear to be an uphill battle.
The decision follows SRH’s victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk, where the team’s CEO, Kavya Maran, once again caught attention for her passionate reactions from the stands. During the match, SRH’s Kamindu Mendis missed a free-hit opportunity in the 16th over, leading to a rare dot ball. Kavya’s expressive response quickly went viral on social media.
With a break between their last match on April 23 against Mumbai Indians (MI) and their next match scheduled for May 2, Kavya Maran took the opportunity to organize a refreshing getaway for the players and their families. This move makes SRH the first IPL team to send its players abroad for a mid-season break.

In videos shared by the franchise, players and their families, including children, were seen heading to the Maldives for some much-needed rest and rejuvenation. This break is particularly timely for players like Ishan Kishan, who had started the season with a century but has since faced a decline in form.

Having lost their previous home match to MI by 7 wickets, the SRH management hopes this unconventional strategy will help reinvigorate the squad ahead of their upcoming crucial fixtures.
While it remains to be seen whether this break will help turn SRH’s season around, the Maldives trip has already grabbed significant attention, much like Kavya Maran’s viral moments in the stands during the matches.
