Thailand emerges as favourite travel destination for young Indians
India has the highest population of Gen Zs and Millennials globally, making youth a key demographic for Airbnb in India.
According to the latest data revealed by Airbnb, there has been a significant surge of 80 percent in travel bookings to Thailand by Indian guests, driven predominantly by younger travellers, particularly GenZ and Millennials.
Between 2022 and 2023, bookings in Thailand on Airbnb have increased by more than 60 per cent year-on-year.
This trend was especially attributed to the recent Holi and Easter long weekends, when searches for stays in Thailand increased by over 200 percent.
Additionally, the Thai government’s visa-free policy, recently extended until 11 November 2024, and the availability of various non-stop daily flights has also made a significant impact.
As per Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports report, India is the fifth largest inbound market for this Asian country.
