Aditya Srivastava’s story is a testament to the power of hard work and determination.
A native of Lucknow, Aditya achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing the All-India Rank (AIR) 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023. He completed a dual degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and worked at Goldman Sachs before pursuing his dream of serving the nation.
Aditya’s early education took place at the Aliganj branch of CMS Lucknow, where he excelled academically, scoring an impressive 95% in his Class 12 exams. After cracking the JEE Advanced, he joined IIT Kanpur in 2014.
Initially focused on a career in finance, Aditya transitioned to public service, becoming an inspiration for aspiring civil servants. Reflecting on his success, he shared, “Till the morning, I was praying that God places me in the top 70. It took time to sink in that I got the 1st rank. I don’t think anyone expects to get 1st rank.”
After graduating, Aditya worked at Goldman Sachs for 15 months before leaving to prepare for the UPSC. Later, he took a high-paying job in Bengaluru, earning an annual salary of ₹40 lakh. However, after 18 months, he decided to resign and focus on his dream of serving the government.
Aditya’s desire to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) stemmed from a deeper understanding of his true purpose. He explained, “Coming from my background, blessings often come in the form of wishing to become a collector. But the turning point was during my job when I volunteered and realized that just feeding children wasn’t enough to create meaningful change.”
On his third attempt, Aditya achieved success in the UPSC exam, securing Rank 136 and joining the Indian Police Service (IPS). After completing his IPS training, he continued his preparations and finally achieved the top rank in 2023.
Aditya Srivastava’s journey, from IIT to Goldman Sachs, and finally to AIR 1 in the UPSC, inspires countless individuals to pursue their dreams with perseverance and dedication. He is currently serving in Hyderabad, Telangana, according to his LinkedIn profile.
