The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will start on March 22, announced by league chairman Arun Dhumal.

Despite elections happening in April and May, the whole tournament will happen in India.

They will announce only the first 15 days’ schedule at first, waiting for election dates in early March to decide the rest. In 2009 and 2014, IPL events were moved due to elections, but this time, they are committed to keeping all matches in India.

The IPL final is set for May 26, just before the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies starting on June 1. The opening match will be between last year’s winners, Chennai Super Kings, and runners-up Gujarat Titans. In the player auction held in December 2023, Australian bowler Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹24.75 crore.
