Thief Caught After Building Rs 3 Crore House for Girlfriend
The Bengaluru Police have arrested a thief who built a Rs 3 crore house for his girlfriend using stolen money. The accused, 37-year-old Panchakshari Swamy, is also linked to a well-known film actress.
A Life of Crime
Swamy, originally from Solapur, Maharashtra, is married with a child but is known for his extravagant lifestyle and affairs. He started stealing in 2003, and by 2009, he became a professional thief, amassing crores through burglaries.
In 2014-15, he met a famous actress and developed a relationship with her. During questioning, Swamy confessed that he had spent crores on her, including building a Rs 3 crore house in Kolkata and gifting her an aquarium worth Rs 22 lakh.
Multiple Arrests
Swamy was first caught by Gujarat Police in 2016 and sentenced to six years in jail. After serving his time in Sabarmati Central Jail, Ahmedabad, he was arrested again by Maharashtra Police for similar crimes.
Once released in 2024, he moved to Bengaluru, where he resumed house burglaries and thefts.
Caught in Bengaluru
On January 9, 2025, Swamy broke into a house in Madivala, Bengaluru. After gathering intelligence, police arrested him near Madivala market. During questioning, he admitted to committing several thefts in Bengaluru with an accomplice.
The police recovered:
✔ 181 grams of gold biscuits
✔ 333 grams of silver items
✔ A fire gun used to melt stolen gold into biscuits
Swamy revealed that he stored stolen gold and silver in his home in Solapur.
A Master of Disguise
To avoid getting caught, Swamy would change clothes on the street after committing crimes. He was also a black belt in karate, which helped him escape capture for years.
After his father’s death, Swamy’s mother got a railway job. However, a house in her name was under bank auction due to unpaid loans.
Police Investigation
The case was solved by a special police team, including DCP Sarah Fathima, ACP Laxminarayana K.C., and Inspector Mohammad M.A. from the Madivala police station.
Swamy usually worked alone, targeting empty houses. His connections with actresses may have also influenced his criminal lifestyle.
Now, after years of evading the law, his crime spree has come to an end.
