In a surprising incident, villagers in Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh, discovered a tiger and a wild boar struggling to stay afloat in a well. The dramatic event took place in Pipariya Harduli village near the Pench Tiger Reserve, which famously inspired Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.

The tiger cub, known for its hunting skills, was chasing the wild boar when both accidentally fell into the well. Trapped with no way to escape, they waited anxiously as a crowd of shocked villagers gathered around. The villagers quickly alerted forest officials, who arrived swiftly to begin the rescue.

Using a crane and a traditional village cot (khatia), the rescue team managed to pull the tiger out safely, bringing the operation to a successful end.

The Pench Tiger Reserve, spread across Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, is home to many wild animals, including a strong tiger population of 44, as recorded in 2021. This rescue highlights the ongoing efforts to protect and preserve wildlife in the region.
