SkyWatch Weather India taking to X posted weather update for this week. It is predicted that Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Virar, Navi Mumbai Palghar, Dahanu, Wada, and Igatpuri will witness unseasonal rainfall this week.

According to SkyWatch’s report, Dahanu, Palghar Wada, Shahapur, Igatpuri, and Kasara may witness light rains on February 21. Northern Mumbai, Thane Virar, Mira-Bhayander, Borivali, Kalyan, and Titwala areas will have cloudy weather.

There are chances that the Coastal Mumbai, Borivali, Vasai, SGNP, Thane, Kalyan, Dahanu, Palghar, and Igatpuri might witness light rains on February 22 morning. The department also said that Kutch, Vapi, Ahmedabad, and Surat might have cloudy or light rain-like weather.

Taking to X, the agency posted a weather synopsis causing rains. It wrote that the winds from South Africa (where MJO is in the active phase) travelling via Madagascar are turning towards the Arabian Sea due to a low-pressure area near Madagascar. These winds have high moisture content at a lower level and the upper level winds are dry. By reaching the Arabian Sea, a decrease in moisture at the upper level is observed. These winds are merging with jetstreams in the Arabian Sea and hitting Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts.  Due to this, moisture and humidity content in MMR will be seeing a sharp rise on 21 and 22.

They further added, “Convergence at lower level, high humidity is observed. Also air above sea is likely to be warm at early morning hrs. All factors are perfect for development of low clouds. However due to absence of atmospheric instability, not much heavy activities are anticipated.”
