Vasai, Maharashtra: A disturbing incident from Vasai in Palghar district has triggered widespread outrage after a four-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by an autorickshaw driver over a personal dispute with the child’s father.
According to police, the incident took place on Monday around 7:30 pm inside a residential society in Vasai West. The child was playing in the compound when he entered a parked autorickshaw belonging to the accused, identified as Sandeep Pawar.
CCTV footage of the incident shows the accused arriving at the spot, chasing away other children, and pulling the boy out of the vehicle. He then allegedly threw the child to the ground and continued to assault him inside the society premises near a staircase.
The child’s grandmother tried to intervene but was also reportedly attacked during the incident.
A fight over a minor issue turned revengeful and gruesome when a man tossed a four-year-old boy to the ground and smashed his head on an iron rod after arguing with his father in Maharashtra's Vasai – an area adjacent to Mumbai.

The injured boy was immediately rushed to a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors have stated that his condition remains critical.
Police officials said the attack appears to be linked to a recent dispute between the accused and the child’s father, suggesting it may have been an act of revenge.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, including provisions related to assault and child protection. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
The incident has sparked strong reactions among residents and on social media, with many demanding strict action and improved safety measures in residential areas.
