Veteran musician Pankaj Udhas passes away

Panjaj Udhas, a music icon and Padmashri recipient, passed away today. The seasoned ghazal singer, who was well-known for songs like Chandi Jai Rang and Chitti Ayi Hai, passed away after a protracted illness.

His daughter Nayaab Udhas announced the news on Instagram, saying that they are saddened to learn of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas’s sad demise on February 26, 2024, due to a protracted illness.

For his contributions to Indian pop music and Hindi film, Pankaj Udhas was well-known.

His ghazal album “Aahat” brought him fame in 1980, and he went on to have success with songs like “Mukarar,” “Tarrannum,” and “Mehfil.” His song “Chitthi Aayee Hai,” which was featured in the movie “Naam,” shot to fame. Among the honors bestowed upon Udhas are the Padma Shri awarded in 2006. He was seventy-two when he passed away.
