A decade-old video has resurfaced on social media, showing a tiger strapped to the back of an elephant while two men twist its ears. The video has caused widespread outrage among social media users and animal rights activists.

In the clip, the elephant slowly walks down a crowded road, surrounded by onlookers. Some people in the crowd are seen pulling at the tiger’s legs, further adding to its suffering.

The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user named Guru, who incorrectly claimed the incident occurred in Bihar. However, it was later confirmed that this event happened in January 2011 in Nainital, Uttarakhand. The tiger, labeled a man-eater, was reportedly hunted and killed by forest officials after it had taken six human lives. It took a team of seven elephants and 32 bullets to capture the animal.

The video has sparked backlash, with television actress Kavita Kaushik condemning the cruelty. She called the act “beyond cruel, it’s evil!” and questioned whether such actions were illegal. She tagged PETA India, PETA, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging action against animal cruelty.

Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan also commented on the video, explaining that it was an old clip from Ramnagar, Uttarakhand. He clarified that the tiger was transported on an elephant because vehicles could not reach the area.

The resurfaced footage has reignited discussions about the ethical treatment of animals and raised concerns about cruelty in handling wildlife.
