A viral video from Virar West near Mumbai has caused shock and anger after it showed a roadside fruit seller allegedly sprinkling dirty water on fruits to make them look fresh. The video, which has been widely shared on social media, has raised serious concerns about hygiene and food safety.

According to the video, local residents noticed that the water being used by the vendor looked dirty and unhygienic. They confronted the fruit seller and questioned him about the source of the water. The locals warned him that the water appeared to be gutter water, but the vendor denied the claim.

The fruit seller told the locals that the water was supplied by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and insisted that it was clean. When asked his name, he identified himself as Sajjan. Despite repeated objections from the residents, he continued to maintain that the water was safe.

To prove his point, the locals showed a nearby spot containing visibly dirty water, claiming it was the same water being used on the fruits. In a shocking moment captured on camera, the vendor collected the water in a metal container used for weighing fruits and drank it in front of everyone. He admitted that he had been using the same water on the fruits and said that if he could drink it, it was safe for customers as well.

The situation escalated as locals insisted that the water was clearly gutter water and a serious health hazard. The fruit seller was later handed over to the police for further action.

A local resident later said that the vendor broke down and requested forgiveness, asking that strict action not be taken. However, the resident added that due to the seriousness of the issue, action was necessary.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many people demanding stricter checks on hygiene and food safety at roadside fruit stalls.
