Viral Video Sparks Outrage as Train Vandalism Highlights Growing Challenges for Indian Railways
Indian Railways often faces criticism for issues like overcrowding, poor cleanliness, and inconsistent food quality. However, passenger vandalism is another serious problem, as highlighted by a recent viral video that has angered many people online.
The video shows a young man tearing a seat cover inside a train coach and throwing it out of the window while the train is moving. The incident, which happened at night, shows the man smiling as he does this, likely for a social media video. Shared by Mr. Sinha on the platform X, the video was captioned, “The same person will later complain about the poor state of the railways.” Many have condemned the act, calling it vandalism and pointing out the harm caused by littering. Indian Railways has not yet officially responded to the incident.
This is not an isolated case. At Basti railway station in Uttar Pradesh, passengers damaged the Antyodaya Express in frustration over locked doors. Viral footage showed people throwing stones to break glass doors and removing window grills to enter the train. Another post on X described how angry passengers broke the train’s glass at Mankapur station because the doors wouldn’t open, leading to chaos and a stampede. The train, traveling from Chhapra to Mumbai, was overcrowded, with passengers inside locking the coach doors to stop more people from boarding.
The same person will be seen speaking to any YouTuber and abusing the govt, claiming that the railway is in bad condition.

Such actions not only harm public property but also put passenger safety at risk, making it even harder for Indian Railways to address its challenges. It’s essential for both passengers and authorities to work together to protect and maintain public transport systems.
