Brother’s quick thinking and a delivery partner’s extra effort prevent a 6 a.m. travel mishap.

Mumbai: What started as a late-night grocery order turned into an unexpected rescue for a Mumbai family trying to catch an early morning flight. A quick-commerce delivery at 3 a.m. helped ensure a woman did not miss her 6 a.m. departure.

The incident was shared on LinkedIn by Mumbai resident Rishabh Agarwal. His sister had a flight scheduled for 6 a.m. and had asked their mother to wake her up at 3 a.m. However, around 3:15 a.m., the family realised her phone was switched off, raising fears that she might oversleep.

Rishabh faced a difficult choice — either travel nearly 40 minutes from Parel to Powai at that hour to wake her up or find another solution. Thinking quickly, he placed a grocery order on Zepto at 3:20 a.m. and added a special request asking the delivery partner to ring the doorbell and make sure his sister woke up.

The delivery partner, identified as Vikas, arrived within 10 minutes. He not only rang the doorbell but also stayed on a call with the family for nearly 10 minutes to confirm that the woman was awake.

After the story went viral, senior officials from Zepto responded on social media. Chief Brand Officer Chandan Mendiratta jokingly said that while the company delivers alarm clocks, they never expected to act as one. Chief Operating Officer Vikas Sharma praised the delivery partner for going beyond his duty.

Social media users appreciated both the brother’s smart idea and the delivery partner’s extra effort. Many said the incident shows how quick-delivery services can be helpful in urgent situations.

In the end, a simple grocery order placed at 3 a.m. ensured the woman reached the airport on time — turning a possible travel mishap into a memorable story.
