The 2024 Hurun India Rich List highlights the impressive rise of young entrepreneurs in India, with a notable surge in the number of dollar billionaires. According to the report released on August 29, India’s billionaire count has soared to 334, marking a 29 percent increase from the previous year, with a new billionaire emerging roughly every five days.

At just 21, Kaivalya Vohra, co-founder of the quick commerce startup Zepto, has secured his position as the youngest billionaire in India with a net worth of Rs 3,600 crore. His co-founder, Aadit Palicha, is the second youngest billionaire at 22 years old, boasting a net worth of Rs 4,300 crore. Both entrepreneurs made their debut on the Hurun list in 2022, with Zepto quickly becoming a leading name in the e-grocery sector since its launch during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The list features a significant number of young billionaires, with seven out of the top eleven under 35, primarily involved in “new-age businesses.” Noteworthy names include Shashvat Nakrani of BharatPe, Ritesh Agarwal of Oyo, Alakh Pandey of Physics Wallah, and the Razorpay duo, Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar, each with a substantial net worth.

The 2024 Hurun list expanded to include 1,539 individuals, up by 220 from last year, with the wealth threshold set at Rs 1,000 crore. This year’s list reflects a 46 percent increase in cumulative wealth. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has surpassed Mukesh Ambani to become the richest Indian, while Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan makes his debut on the list with an estimated fortune of Rs 7,300 crore.

This year’s edition of the Hurun India Rich List continues to underscore India’s burgeoning entrepreneurial landscape, spotlighting a new generation of business leaders who are reshaping industries and driving economic growth.
