BMC Begins Work On Kandivali-Goregaon Connection Route, Razes 168 Structures
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) began the work of the first phase of the Kandivali Lokhandwala to Goregaon East connectivity project on Monday. It expanded a 500-metre road in Malad East P Northward. BMC razed 168 structures, including dwellings and commercial establishments, along a road connecting Goregaon (east) and Kandivali (east).
This 2.1-kilometer route, designated as a ‘Vital project,’ aims to connect Kandivali Lokhandwala to the Western Express Highway in Goregaon East and provide an additional link to the GMLR for connectivity to the eastern suburbs.
A BMC official stated, “This is an important project by the BMC that will provide significant relief to commuters. Currently, about 500 metres of bottleneck have been cleared. This will be an all-new connectivity road. From Kandivali, you can take the GMLR to Mulund or the Western Express Highway.”
The new link, according to BMC officials, will have bridges and 120-foot-wide concrete highways. The officials also stated that the project would affect a total of 1376 structures, with 71 in the woodland range and the remainder on BMC land. Approximately 860 metres of the route pass through the forest.
