Ahmednagar Renamed AhilyaNagar to Honor Ahilya Devi

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar recently announced that Ahmednagar will now be officially known as AhilyaNagar, paying tribute to the remarkable legacy of Punyashlok Ahilya Devi. This decision has received approval from the State cabinet. The aim behind this move is to honor Ahilya Devi’s exceptional work and inspire present and future leaders to follow in her footsteps.

Ajit Pawar expressed his satisfaction in fulfilling the wishes of Ahmednagar’s residents and the people of Maharashtra. He stressed the importance of preserving Ahilya Devi’s ideas and achievements to motivate future generations. Pawar acknowledged the significant contributions of MLAs Sarveshree Sangram Jagtap, Dattamama Bharne, Ashutosh Kale, and Nitin Pawar in making this renaming possible.

Pawar thanked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other colleagues in the state cabinet for their support and cooperation in the decision-making process. Renaming Ahmednagar to AhilyaNagar serves as a symbolic gesture honoring Ahilya Devi’s remarkable contributions and aims to keep her legacy alive, inspiring generations to come in Maharashtra.
