Pune : Former corporators from Vishrantwadi seek changes in flyover plan
A week after deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar laid the foundation stone for the Vishrantwadi project at Chowk, former corporators of the Vishrantwadi area, including Siddharth Dhende and Anil Tingre, have approached the civic body suggesting changes in the proposed flyover and grade separator plan. Alandi Road and Tingrenagar are connected by the flyover.
The leaders asserted that because the Dhanori-Lohegaon Road, which connects the Vishrantwadi junction, was not taken into consideration when approving the project, there may be future traffic jams. Before laying the foundation, it will be preferable if recommendations are considered, the leaders stated.
There have been regular traffic jams at the Vishrantwadi Chowk, with lengthy lines of cars at the intersection during peak hours. According to daily commuters, traffic congestion forces them to spend at least 15 to 30 minutes crossing the Vishrantwadi intersection.
The leaders asserted that since there were plans to close the side leading to the airport, the situation at the intersection of the Lohegaon-Dhanori-Vishrantwadi road would only get worse.
Authorities at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have stated that the groundwork will not start right away because it will only be completed following the completion of a traffic study. According to officials, talks about this will also take place with the traffic police.
Locals insisted that before beginning construction, authorities take into account the traffic situation for the ensuing 15 to 20 years and guarantee appropriate planning.
Regular commuters, according to a resident, want easy access to Alandi, Tingrenagar, Dhanori, and Vishrantwadi.
