However, now only light vehicles will be permitted to access the structure, owing to the ongoing work on the second phase. In a bid to prevent heavy vehicles from plying, height barriers have been installed on the bridge.
The BMC had earlier scheduled the opening on Monday, July. Therefore, several vehicles were seen plying on the flyover as some unknown persons had removed the plastic barricades. This led to confusion among commuters as it was opened and shut down again within a few hours. The civic body has now directed the deputy municipal commissioner of the concerned department to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
Clarifying on missing the deadline again, the BMC administration said that after the completion of the alignment work, the required load test has been conducted. Reports show that the bridge is structurally safe. VJTI has also issued NOC to BMC late at night on June 30.
