BMC demolished the allegedly illegal portion of the bar stating that the kitchen and loft were built illegally at the entrance
Date: July 11, 2024
After the Maharashtra Excise Department took action against the Vice Global Tapas Bar for not serving hard liquor to an underage Mihir Shah, who is also a hit-and-run suspect, Vice Global Tapas Bar authorities claimed that they did nothing wrong, yet their bar is being sealed by authorities.
According to regulations, hard liquor like Jack Daniel’s can only be served to individuals 25 and older.
Justifying their stance, the bar’s representative explained that they checked the identity cards of the group accompanying Shah, noting that most of the individuals were over 30 years old, and Shah himself was listed as 27 on both his ID card and his Facebook page. As per police records, Shah’s three friends were over 30, while Shah is 23 years old.
Jack Daniel’s and Red Bull were served at the table but it is not known who drank what, they added.
The police officials are verifying it, however, the initial details suggest that all four had at least two to three pegs.
For the unversed, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s K West Ward demolished the allegedly illegal portion of the bar on Wednesday, July 10, stating that the kitchen and loft were built illegally at the entrance.
On the contrary, the bar representatives claim there was nothing illegal and that the demolition was carried out without any prior notice.
