The Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the entire 59 km stretch from the DND Flyway to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be open for traffic by the end of this year. Two

important link roads – DND flyways-Sohna highway and Delhi-Dehradun Express 1 are

underway to open in December. This will ease traffic jams in south, southeast, and northeast

Delhi.

There will be no need for travellers from Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad to travel via the clogged

Mathura Road in order to reach Agra or the recently constructed section of the Delhi Mumbai

Expressway.

Along with senior officials and local leaders, Gadkari physically inspected the 33 km section

between the DND Flyway and the Ballabhgarh Bypass on February 14. March 2023 saw the

opening of the 26-kilometer Delhi-Mumbai Highway route, which runs from Ballabhgarh to

Sohna. An investment of INR 7,000 crore, including land valuation and civil construction, is

being made in the construction of the three packages.

A senior NHAI official said, “In addition to offering direct access to the Delhi-Mumbai

Expressway, commuters can reach Palwal in 25–30 minutes by using this link from the DND

Flyway. There will also be decongestion on Mathura Road, which is currently the only main

route for cars going to Palwal, Agra, Faridabad, and other places.”

After inspecting the ongoing work, Gadkari stated that Delhi is facing problems of both air pollution and congestion. “This is not good for the capital city of our country. That’s why we have undertaken massive road development work to improve traffic flow and air pollution. We have so far completed projects worth Rs 30,000 crore and projects with an investment of another Rs 35,000 crore will be completed in 2024-25,” he said.

Sharing information about other two major projects, the minister said that while 85% work is complete in the case of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Dwarka Expressway project is nearing completion. “We have requested the Prime Minister to inaugurate the completed packages of UER-II and Dwarka Expressway. I hope that in the next 10-12 days we will get his time and inaugurate these roads,” Gadkari said.
