Elderly Mumbai vendor goes viral for honesty, humility and strong work ethic

An 82-year-old snack seller from Mumbai’s Borivali has become a social media sensation after a video of him running his small roadside stall went viral. The video, shot in the Sai Baba Nagar area, shows the elderly man calmly selling farsan, chivda and chakli, earning praise for his dignity, fairness and dedication to work.

In the clip, the vendor is seen politely dealing with customers and carefully managing his earnings. Viewers were impressed not only by his age but also by the values he follows while running his business.

Speaking in Hindi, the man explains that three women prepare the snacks, while he handles sales. He says the profits are shared equally among all four of them. “No one gets more or less. We divide everything equally,” he says, adding that he maintains written records of sales and profits in a small notebook to ensure complete transparency.

The vendor also shares that he started this work during the Covid-19 pandemic after previously working in a regular job. When asked about continuing to work at his age, he responds simply and humbly, saying that it is a part of life.

Towards the end of the video, the person recording the clip tells him that followers had requested him to buy snacks from “Dada” to support him. The elderly man politely asks him to buy whatever he wishes. When the creator decides to purchase all the items on display, the vendor thanks him warmly, remaining modest and grateful.

The video ends with a message encouraging people in the Borivali area to support the vendor. It was later shared on X with the caption, “He is 82 years old and still working,” drawing widespread attention and emotional reactions.

Social media users praised his independence and positive attitude. Many commented that age should not be seen as a limitation and admired his honesty, discipline and calm nature.

In a fast-paced city like Mumbai, the Borivali vendor’s story has touched many hearts, reminding people that self-respect, purpose and hard work have no age limit.
