Mumbai: IndiGo Flight with Over 220 Passengers Lands Safely After Technical Glitch
Landing gear malfunction during final approach prompts pilots to switch to manual mode; no injuries reported at Mumbai airport.
Mumbai, February 7, 2026: An IndiGo flight created tense moments at Mumbai airport on Friday morning after it faced a technical problem while landing. The aircraft was carrying over 220 passengers but landed safely, and no injuries were reported.
According to sources, the incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 2157, operated with an Airbus A321neo aircraft. The issue occurred during the final stage of landing when the landing gear system reportedly malfunctioned. The automatic system that lowers the aircraft’s wheels did not work properly.
The pilots immediately switched to manual mode and successfully lowered the landing gear before landing the aircraft safely. After landing, technical teams inspected the aircraft and fixed the issue.
Following necessary checks and repairs, the aircraft was cleared to continue its scheduled flights for the day. IndiGo has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.

The incident comes shortly after another technical alert earlier this month, when an Air India Boeing 787-8 flight from London to Bengaluru had to stop take-off due to a fuel control switch problem. That flight was halted as a precaution to ensure passenger safety.
Last year, a similar fuel control switch issue was reported in an Air India aircraft that later crashed in Ahmedabad, raising concerns about recurring technical faults in aircraft systems.
