Speeding car runs over child near residential building; family demands strict action as police launch manhunt
Mumbai: A tragic hit-and-run incident in Malad East has claimed the life of a four-year-old boy, leaving the local community in shock and grief. The accident took place near the Nilayog Virat building when a speeding Innova Crysta allegedly ran over the child and fled the spot.
The victim, Lakshya Singh, was playing near his residential building when the car struck him. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was moving at high speed and hit the child with force, causing serious injuries.
Lakshya was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead during treatment. CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows the driver leaving the scene instead of taking the injured child to the hospital, triggering public outrage.
According to reports, the driver briefly informed a security guard about the accident before escaping. Lakshya’s father, Jayprakash Singh, said the family had recently celebrated a wedding at home and described the loss as unbearable. He claimed that if the driver had acted responsibly and taken the child to the hospital in time, his son might have survived.
