Two injured in Bor Ghat accident; vehicles temporarily diverted via old highway.
Lonavala, March 13: Traffic movement towards Mumbai was briefly affected on Friday morning after a truck carrying a load of fish overturned near the Amritanjan Bridge in Bor Ghat on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway.
The truck was travelling from Pune to Mumbai when the driver reportedly lost control while descending the steep ghat section. The vehicle overturned on the road, leaving two people on board with minor injuries. Both were immediately taken to Khopoli Municipal Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that no fatalities occurred in the incident.
Soon after the accident, emergency teams including IRB patrol units, Bor Ghat highway traffic police, Delta Force Maharashtra Security personnel and members of the Mrityunjay Devdoot unit rushed to the spot to assist in rescue and traffic management.
A crane was used to lift the overturned truck and move it to the side of the road, helping clear the expressway. During the operation, vehicles were temporarily diverted from Lonavala to the old Mumbai–Pune highway to avoid heavy traffic congestion.
Once the truck was removed, traffic on the expressway returned to normal. Meanwhile, Khopoli police have started an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident.
