Fire at Mumbai Airport’s Terminal 1 Causes Brief Panic, No Injuries Reported
Short circuit suspected as emergency teams quickly control blaze; operations disrupted for nearly an hour

A fire broke out at Terminal 1 of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday evening, causing panic among passengers. The incident occurred around 6 pm in the Vile Parle area, with flames and thick smoke seen inside the terminal.
Emergency teams, including airport fire services and the Mumbai Fire Brigade, reached the spot immediately and started firefighting operations. As a safety measure, activities at Terminal 1 were temporarily stopped, affecting airport operations for about an hour.
Passengers present in the terminal were safely evacuated, and no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

According to initial reports, the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. Officials said the fire started in the cable tray and switch box area within the terminal. Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambulgekar confirmed that the situation was quickly brought under control, and efforts were made to completely extinguish the fire.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
