Teen Killed, Two Injured in Late-Night Crash on Pune–Mumbai Expressway
Suspected driver fatigue leads to fatal accident near Shirgaon in early morning hours.
News Report:
A tragic road accident on the Pune–Mumbai Expressway claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy and left two others seriously injured early Wednesday morning near Shirgaon.
The deceased, Darshan Shah from Sangli district, was travelling with his cousin Aditya Shah, 30, and family friend Ashwesh Sawant, 32, a resident of Mumbai. Aditya was driving the car at the time of the accident.
According to police, the trio had started their journey from Sangli around 11 pm on Tuesday, heading towards Mumbai. The crash occurred at approximately 3 am when their vehicle reached the Shirgaon stretch of the expressway.
Initial investigation suggests that the driver may have dozed off briefly, leading the car to first hit an unidentified vehicle ahead. The vehicle then went out of control and crashed into the road median.
Darshan died on the spot due to the impact. The two injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
