Air India, now under the Tata Group’s umbrella, has introduced a captivating inflight safety video called ‘Safety Mudra.’ This video celebrates India’s diverse dance traditions while ensuring passenger safety.

In ‘Safety Mudra,’ eight different dance forms from India, including Bharatnatyam, Bihu, Kathak, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Ghoomar, and Giddha, are showcased. These dances seamlessly integrate safety instructions, making the safety demonstration an enjoyable cultural experience.

The video is a colorful journey into India’s cultural heritage, aiming to immerse passengers in the vibrant world of Indian art. By combining safety instructions with the art of mudras, which are hand gestures used in classical and folk dances, Air India offers an engaging and informative experience to its passengers.

Behind the creation of ‘Safety Mudra’ is a collaborative effort involving Prasoon Joshi from McCann Worldgroup, musician Shankar Mahadevan, and film director Bharatbala. This artistic endeavor reflects Air India’s commitment to promoting Indian culture and traditions.

Each dance form featured in the video serves a dual purpose: conveying safety instructions and showcasing the cultural diversity of India’s regions. Passengers can expect to receive essential safety information in a visually captivating and culturally enriched manner.

Campbell Wilson, CEO & MD of Air India, expressed the airline’s delight in presenting this unique artwork. The video is initially available on Air India’s A350 aircraft, equipped with advanced inflight entertainment screens, and will gradually roll out across the entire fleet.

‘Safety Mudra’ represents a fresh and innovative approach to inflight safety, blending cultural heritage with vital safety information. By featuring traditional dance forms, Air India aims to make the inflight safety experience more engaging and memorable for passengers, setting a new standard in aviation safety demonstrations.
