Good News !!! Portals of Badrinath Dham to be opened on May 12 at 6:00 AM
On Wednesday 14th February 2024, on the occassion of Basant Panchami, Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) announced that the portals to Badrinath Dham will open at 6:00 AM on 12th May, 2024.
According to BKTC official, the decision of opening the portals of Kedarnath was taken on Mahashivratri.
Badrinath, Medarnath along with Yamunotri and Gangotri are collectively called Char Dham. They attract lakhs of pilgrims every year.
Char Dham broke record last year by crossing more than 5.6 billion pilgrims.
Char Dham opens in the month of April or May and closes in the month of October or November during winters every year.
In 2023, nearly 75 lakh pilgrims visited Char Dham Yatra which started on 22nd April and closed on 18th November, out of which 18 lakh visited Badrinath Dham whereas 19 lakh visited Kedarnath Dham.
As per reports, after the announcement of portal opening for the Badrinath shrine, the date of Tel-Kalash Yatra has also been fixed on 25 April, 2024.
According to Ajendra Ajay, President of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, “The royal priest Acharya Krishan Prasad Uniyal after offering prayers at the royal palace in Narendra Nagar read out the Almanac and declared the dates for the opening of portals of Badrinath shrine in presence of Maharani Rajyalakshmi Shah, Member of Paliament (MP) from Tehri Lok Sabha Seat.”
