“HR manager demanded sexual favours to release PF of my dead father,”alleges woman
A 23-year-old woman residing in Bandra (E) has lodged a police complaint against an HR manager of a private company, alleging that he demanded sexual favors in exchange for the release of her deceased father’s provident fund (PF). The incident, which came to public attention on Wednesday, has stirred widespread condemnation, prompting the Mumbai police to intervene.
The woman, employed as a domestic worker and residing with her younger brother and grandmother, narrated her ordeal in the complaint. Her father passed away in 2015 when she was 15 years old, and she was designated as the nominee for his PF.
Despite submitting multiple forms to claim the PF, the company purportedly withheld the payment, citing administrative delays and procedural obstacles.
Frustrated by the protracted wait, the woman reached out to the company’s HR manager, only to encounter further distress.
According to her complaint, the HR manager insisted on sexual favors to expedite the release of her father’s PF. Shocked and outraged by this unethical demand, the woman meticulously documented their conversations as evidence and sought recourse from the authorities.
The Mumbai police have acknowledged the seriousness of the matter and have registered a case against the accused HR manager under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act. However, as of now, the accused remains at large, leaving the woman and her family anxiously awaiting justice for the exploitation they have endured during an already trying time of bereavement and financial strain.
