A couple from Thane encountered a troubling situation at Srinagar Airport on Friday when they were denied boarding despite having received their boarding passes. SpiceJet Airlines refused them entry, citing discrepancies in their PNR numbers. Despite having checked in their luggage and obtained boarding passes, they were unable to board the flight. This incident sheds light on the alleged mismanagement within SpiceJet Airlines.

Prakash Nilani (53) and his wife Jaya (50) were the individuals involved in the incident. They had travelled to Srinagar for a holiday but had to unexpectedly truncate their vacation due to pressing commitments back in Mumbai.

They arranged their return through a local travel agent, securing tickets for SpiceJet flight SG 510, slated for departure from Srinagar Airport at 6:40 p.m. After checking in their luggage and receiving their boarding passes, they were halted by SpiceJet staff just as they were preparing to board the flight.

Nilani told The Free Press Journal about the situation, stating, “They informed us that the PNR numbers on our boarding passes didn’t match, leading them to deny us boarding. When I questioned how our luggage was accepted and boarding passes issued at the airline counter, they had no response.”

“Without our luggage and no assistance from the airline, we’re enduring unnecessary hardship,” Nilani expressed. He elaborated that he had submitted a formal complaint to the airline and intends to pursue legal action for their failure to provide adequate service.

The absence of airline staff for comment underscores the need for improved communication and accountability within airline operations. Instances like these emphasise the criticality of efficient processes to prevent disruptions that can inflict considerable inconvenience and distress on passengers, particularly during urgent circumstances.
