Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Rewari, Haryana, is set to mark a significant milestone with the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Gurugram Metro Rail project, valued at ₹5,450 crore.

This move is aimed at transforming urban transportation in the region. Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects totaling over ₹9,750 crore, spanning urban transport, rail, health, and tourism sectors.

Among the notable projects is the initiation of a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari, covering 203 acres and costing ₹1,650 crore. This state-of-the-art facility will include a 720-bed Hospital Complex, a 100-seat Medical College, a 60-seat Nursing College, and a 30-bed AYUSH Block, enhancing comprehensive healthcare services in the region.

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav expressed the significance of the Gurugram Metro project, stating that it fulfills a long-standing demand of city residents, providing improved connectivity and bringing the old city onto the Metro route.

The Gurugram Metro Rail project, with a budget of ₹5,450 crore, spans a length of 28.5 kilometers. Connecting Millennium City Centre to Udyog Vihar Phase-5, it aims to bridge the gap between old and new Gurugram.

The route includes key locations such as HUDA City Centre, Cyber Park, Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, and Cyber City. Additionally, the project features a 1.85-km spur at the Dwarka Expressway, contributing to a total of 27 elevated projects likely to be developed over four years.

The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) will be overseeing the project’s execution, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and transportation in the region.

Notably, the existing Gurugram metro was executed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This comprehensive approach reflects the government’s focus on holistic development across various sectors for the benefit of the community.
