Mumbai: 22-year-old man assaults woman in Andheri

When the woman was returning after her classes, the accused, who suspected that the victim was cheating on her, allegedly confronted her in Andheri and assaulted her.

In a shocking incident, the Mumbai police booked a 22-year-old man, on Saturday, July 20, for allegedly assaulting his friend on a street in Andheri and sharing their intimate video to her relatives.

As per information, the 20-year-old woman, who belongs to Karnataka, moved to her uncle’s place in South Mumbai in 2022, after her parents learned about her relationship with the man.

According to police officials, after coming here, she enrolled in a college and is also doing a course to become an air hostess in Andheri. The complainant had been in touch with the accused all the while.

The victim accepted being involved in a physical relationship with the man in January. But also claimed that she was unaware of him filming the act on his mobile phone.

The man, however, suspected she was cheating on him. Therefore, on July 19, when the woman was returning after her classes, he allegedly confronted her in Andheri and assaulted her on the street.

The woman narrated the incident to her uncle, following which they reported the matter at DN Nagar police station. Later, a non-cognisable offense was registered, said an officer. Police also warned the accused and allowed him to go.

Police said when the woman’s family came to meet her on Friday, July 19, they apparently told her about looking for an alliance for her. Irked over this, the accused allegedly sent their intimate video to her uncle on Saturday evening, July 20.

On late Saturday, the woman and her mother again went to the police and reported the matter after which a case was registered against the accused.

The accused is hiding in Bangalore; the police have suspected. Soon, a team will be dispatched after his location is traced to arrest him.
