The Western Railway announced on Friday that it will operate a night block between the stations of Vasai and Bhayandar on Sunday while providing updates on local trains in Mumbai.

In an official statement, the Western Railway stated that during the intervening night of Saturday/Sunday, or February 17–18, 2024, a jumbo block of three hours will be taken on up and down fast lines between Vasai Road and Bhayandar stations from 00.00 to 03.30 hrs to perform maintenance work on tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment.

A press release from Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Sumit Thakur, states that all Fast line trains between Virar and Borivali will run on the slow line during the block time.

“On Sunday, February 18, there won’t be a block over the suburban portion of Western Railway during the day. Concerned station masters have access to comprehensive information on this subject. Passengers are requested to take note of the above arrangements.,” the statement read.

In a separate statement released last week, the Western Railway stated that it had collected INR 141 crore in fines from various ticket-checking activities that took place between April 2023 and January 2024. It also reported that Mumbai AC local trains had seen a 38% increase in fee collection.
