Passenger’s Cushionless Seat Post Goes Viral, IndiGo Reponds

On a recent IndiGo aircraft from Bengaluru to Bhopal, a passenger named Yavanika Raj Shah realised that her assigned seats were lacking cushions. The event immediately gained notice after Shah published her experience on X, along with a scathing comment and a photograph of the cushion-less seats.

Taing to X, she posted, “Beautiful @IndiGo6E — I do hope I land safely! This is your flight from Bengaluru to Bhopal 6E 6465.”

IndiGo responded to Shah’s concerns directly on social media. The airline explained that the missing seat cushions were a result of a routine cleaning process. The cushions were removed before the flight’s departure for cleaning purposes, which IndiGo claimed as a normal practice during transit whenever necessary.

The airline confirmed that its cabin crew had swiftly informed impacted customers, including Shah, of the temporary absence of the cushions. 

IndiGo wrote, “Ma’am, thank you for speaking with us. The seat cushions were replaced prior to the flight for cleaning purposes. Our cabin crew promptly informed the customers who were allotted these seats. This is a standard practice for cleaning during transit as and when required. We are committed to providing the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to our customers.”

The post quickly went viral, generating over 970,000 views and several reactions. It is not the first time that photos of cushionless seats on IndiGo flights have gone viral.
