Patient dies due to rat bite at Sassoon Hospital’s ICU

In a shocking incident at Sassoon Hospital in Pune, a 30-year-old man admitted to the ICU tragically succumbed to a rat bite, sparking outrage among his relatives.

The victim identified as Sagar Renuse was admitted to Sassoon Hospital on March 16 for treatment following an accident in Bhor taluka of Pune. Initially undergoing treatment for severe injuries sustained in the accident, Renuse’s health took a drastic turn for the worse on March 26.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Renuse had been bitten by rats while in the ICU, with his head, ears and other organs bearing the telltale marks of the rodent attack. This unforeseen and appalling turn of events led to a rapid deterioration in Renuse’s health, ultimately resulting in his untimely demise.

The revelation of the rat bite incited uproar among Renuse’s grieving relatives, who initially faced resistance from hospital staff regarding the cause of his death.
