President Trump Appoints Indian-American Kush Desai as Deputy Press Secretary
The White House announced on Friday that US President Donald Trump has appointed Kush Desai, an Indian-American and former journalist, as the new Deputy Press Secretary.
Kush Desai previously worked as the Deputy Battleground States and Pennsylvania Communications Director for the Republican National Committee. In that role, he played a key part in shaping campaign messages for crucial battleground states, including Pennsylvania, where Trump secured wins in all seven major states.

Desai has also served as the Deputy Communications Director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and as the Communications Director for the Republican Party of Iowa.
Expressing his excitement on the social media platform X, Desai wrote, “I’m back, back in the DC groove.”
The White House Office of Communications is led by Deputy White House Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Taylor Budowich. Desai joins a growing communications team that includes Steven Cheung as the White House Communications Director and Karoline Leavitt as the Press Secretary.
