A huge dump of untreated garbage opposite Anand Vidya Niketan Public School in Viman Nagar is reportedly causing issues for the people living nearby.

As per information, the shopkeepers and the public litter the place and it is left like that for days. Moreover, there is a liquor shop also whose liquor bottles are thrown causing harm to the people. The thrown liquor bottles break which causes injuries to humans as well as stray animals and also damages vehicles. This issue has raised concerns amongst the residents and urges the issue to be resolved as soon as possible.

Anushaa Despande, a resident of Viman Nagar said, “I walk through this area every day and it is very disheartening to see the amount of garbage that keeps growing every day rather than being cleaned regularly. This is a serious issue as there is a school exactly opposite to this as well as residential areas nearby which may cause harm to them.”

Smita Deshmukh, another resident said, ” I have complained to the PMC ward and supervisor several times, but no action has been taken yet and the garbage issue continues to grow.”

As per a teacher at Anand Vidya Niketan School and a nearby resident, Komal Thakur, “The students walk through these areas and it is not safe for them to do so. Firstly, because the garbage can cause harmful diseases and secondly because the liquor bottles can cause mishaps. Moreover, it is also seen that small children smell it and try to consume the remaining liquor from the thrown bottles which is a very serious issue and therefore should be solved immediately.”

To this, PMC supervisor, Kailash Changwal said, “I will look into this matter. Though we clean the area every day, people litter it. Nevertheless, I will send people and go myself and check the area.”
