Shocking! Attempt to burn on-duty police officers with petrol in Pune

In Pune, an allegedly drunk driver attempted to set a female police officer and her colleague on fire by dousing them with petrol during a drink-and-drive crackdown on Friday night. This shocking incident took place around 10 pm on Friday in the jurisdiction of Vishrambaug Police Station.

The catastrophe was prevented because the driver held the lighter upside down due to which the lighter failed to ignite.

It is worthy to note that after the Porsche Car case in Kalyani Nagar, the Pune police have increased vigilance and are taking action against inebriated drivers. Checkpoints have been established to inspect and penalize offenders. During one such inspection, a heated argument broke out between the police and the driver. The driver, who was enraged, doused the officers with petrol and tried to set them on fire with the help of a lighter. However, as the lighter was held upside down, it did not light, avoiding a potential disaster. The police quickly subdued the driver and he is currently facing criminal charges.

Further investigation is being carried out against the driver. Regardless of severe and strict regulations after the Porsche Car case in Pune, incidents of drink-and-drive are still occurring which are traumatizing and life-threatening. Stricter enforcement and judicial regulations need to be put in place to avoid such catastrophic situations.
