Speed Boost for Kalyan-Badlapur 3rd & 4th Route as MRVC Invites Tenders
The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has taken a significant step toward enhancing connectivity with the invitation of tenders for track, platform, and other construction on the third and fourth new line between Kalyan and Badlapur stations of the Central Railway.
This move follows the successful resolution of obstacles in the development of the new line, which aims to improve speed and accommodate the growing population of Badlapur and Ambernath cities.
With the population of these cities on the rise, the number of passengers in Kalyan and Badlapur stations has increased substantially. Currently, only two railway lines are available between these stations, limiting the scope for additional local trains.
The MRVC’s initiative to develop the third-fourth line is part of the ‘MUTP 3A’ plan, encompassing 15 kilometers with proposed features such as 49 bridges and four railway flyovers. The estimated expenditure for this project is Rs 1,509.87 crore.
The third-fourth route is anticipated to alleviate congestion by providing separate tracks for Kalyan to Badlapur locals. Presently, due to the absence of a dedicated track, local trains make stops at Kalyan and Vitthalwadi stations, causing delays.
The completion of this project is expected by 2026, marking a significant milestone in enhancing rail connectivity and addressing the increasing demand for efficient transportation in the region.
