In a heartening display of diligence and compassion, a ticket inspector at Ludhiana station thwarted the attempted flight of three young girls to Mumbai. His astute observation led to the discovery of the girls’ plans, after which action was taken that ultimately saw them safely reunited with their families.

This remarkable vigilance not only averted potential harm but also earned the staff commendation from the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, underscoring the significance of community vigilance and intervention in safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

Dharam Raj, a ticket inspector, encountered the girls seated on platform one at Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday. Upon inquiry about their tickets, the girls admitted to not having any, prompting Raj’s suspicion. Further questioning revealed that they were attempting to flee to Mumbai without notifying their parents.

He requested the girls’ home addresses and their parents’ contact numbers. He then reached out to their parents, who arrived at the station. After verification by Government Railway Police (GRP) officials, the three girls were reunited with their families.

Paramdeep Singh Saini, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, commended ticket-checking staff Dharam Raj and Hansraj Meena for their alertness by announcing a certificate of appreciation.

Community vigilance plays a crucial role when it comes to early detection of risks, prevention of harm from potential threats, timely support and assistance, and promoting a community culture where everyone feels responsible for the welfare of fellow people.
